Consultation opens for Australian Curriculum: Languages
31 May 2022 Proposed revisions to the Australian Curriculum: Languages (German, Indonesian, Korean, Greek and Spanish) for Foundation – Year 10 (F–10) have been released for public comment on the public consultation website.
The
review of the Australian Curriculum commenced in 2020-2021 and resulted in the endorsement of the Australian Curriculum, Version 9.0 in April 2022 and released on a
new website.
The Review’s
terms of reference provided for the languages curricula to be reviewed and endorsed in phases with the languages: French, Japanese, Chinese and Italian already reviewed and endorsed as part of the first phase of the Australian Curriculum Review.
The remaining 12 languages of the Australian Curriculum are to be finalised by the end of 2023 with public consultation now open for 10 weeks on German, Indonesian, Korean, Greek and Spanish.
“The new Australian Curriculum Version 9.0 raises standards and sets high expectations for learning which is what our students deserve. It’s exciting to now release draft revisions to the languages curricula for comment as part of the Review,” ACARA CEO David de Carvalho said.
New Australian Curriculum website now live
09 May 2022 The new Australian Curriculum website, hosting the updated and approved Australian Curriculum, Version 9.0, has been launched. The specially built website, v9.australiancurriculum.edu.au has been designed with teachers for teachers.
The new Australian Curriculum sets high expectations and standards for what all students should know and be able to do, and was endorsed by education ministers on 1 April 2022.
“The website is one of the few in the world that has digitised the curriculum so teachers will be able to quickly and intuitively find relevant information. Information is more accessible and lessons can be more easily planned,” ACARA CEO, David de Carvalho, said.
