NAPLAN student results are available from the start of Term 3
Parents and carers of students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 who took this year’s NAPLAN assessment in March will receive an individual student report (ISR) of their child’s results from their school from the start of Term 3.
Specific timing will be determined by the relevant state or territory test administration authority. These reports provide useful information on a student’s results in reading, writing, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.
NAPLAN ISRs are reported against proficiency standards. The standards are set at a challenging but reasonable expectation of what students know and can do at the time of testing.
Along with other school assessment reports, parents and carers can use the NAPLAN ISRs to discuss their child’s progress with their teacher.

Our new Curriculum leadership resources are now available
School leaders across Australia now have access to a new suite of Curriculum leadership resources designed to support the whole-school curriculum planning and implementation of the Australian Curriculum.
Developed in collaboration with educators, principals and jurisdictions from across Australia, the resources provide practical tools and expert guidance to help schools build teacher capability, strengthen teacher collaboration in curriculum planning and support effective curriculum implementation.
The resources cover 8 key aspects of curriculum planning and implementation. They include guiding questions, workshop materials, planning tools, the opportunity to undertake interactive reflection, research summaries and practical examples that schools can adapt to their local needs.

Explore ACARA's new FIRST Framework professional learning course
A new course on the FIRST Framework in ACARA’s Professional Learning Hub has just been released, providing practical guidance to help teachers and school leaders integrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures in ways that are authentic, meaningful and relevant to their local context.
Developed with First Nations educators and partners, this free course provides practical guidance to support schools in applying the FIRST Framework within their own context.

Our Lady Star of the Sea School on Wadawurrung Country shared their story on how their relationships with Traditional Custodians and First Nations community members have helped shape authentic learning experiences for students. It demonstrates how strong partnerships with local First Nations communities can support schools to bring the FIRST Framework to life, recognising that every school’s journey will be different.

Latest information on policies and priorities in education in Australia released
New information on policies and priorities in education has been released by ACARA as part of the National Report on Schooling in Australia 2025.
The policies and priorities section details the activities undertaken by the Australian, state and territory governments and the Catholic and independent school sectors to improve education outcomes in Australia.
ACARA progressively releases sections of the annual National Report on Schooling in Australia as the data becomes available. This allows for more timely commentary on progress against nationally agreed policy initiatives by Australia’s school education sector.

Have your say with AITSL's review of Teacher Standards
The Teacher Standards are being reviewed this year by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) and there are opportunities for you to have your say.
The review will consider the extent to which the Teacher Standards remain relevant, evidence-informed and aligned with an understanding of effective practice.
AITSL is inviting you to share your experiences and perspectives through an online survey, which is open until 7 August 2026.
