Work Studies, Years 9–10 (Version 8.4)
The Australian Curriculum: Work Studies Years 9–10 is a school-based subject that provides opportunities for students to undertake vocational learning and develop work-readiness skills. It prepares students for further study towards a skilled occupation or further education after leaving school. It is an elective curriculum available for students in Years 9 or 10 (as a one-year subject), or across Years 9–10 (as a two-year subject). The curriculum focuses on further strengthening the general capabilities of the Australian Curriculum and includes features such as applied learning and work exposure.
The Australian Curriculum: Work Studies Years 9–10 was endorsed by the Education Council in September 2015.
State and territory curriculum authorities are responsible for the implementation of the Australian Curriculum.

2012
The formulation of the Years 9–10 Australian Curriculum: Work Studies commenced with a national workshop, panel and advisory group. Consultation was carried out with education, industry and community stakeholders.
2013
The Draft Shape of the Australian Curriculum: Work Studies Years 9–10 Consultation Report (PDF 987 kb) was published.
Further extensive consultation resulted in the Shape of the Australian Curriculum: Work Studies Years 9–10 (PDF 607 kb) been published.
Writing commenced with the Work Studies Years 9–10 Advisory Group (writing team).
The Draft Australian Curriculum: Work Studies Years 9–10 was presented for consultation. The Draft Australian Curriculum: Work Studies Years 9–10 Consultation Report (PDF 884 kb) suggested further revisions.
2014
The Australian Curriculum: Work Studies Years 9–10 was finalised and the achievement standards were validated.
