New student diversity course for teachers

05 November 2024

A new online course aims to help teachers to plan their lessons for students with a range of learning abilities and interests, so every student achieves their full potential.

The new Student Diversity course for teachers is now live on ACARA’s Professional Learning Hub. The course covers planning and assessment practices and includes templates and examples to guide teachers as they develop their lesson plans.

Key learnings:

  • Developing a deeper understanding of the CASE (Curriculum, Abilities, Standards, Evaluation) model to personalise student learning.
  • Exploring age/year level content descriptions and Achievement Standards in the Australian Curriculum.
  • Identifying the strengths and barriers to learning (functional impacts) for an entire class and individual students (Tiers 1 to 3).
  • Understanding how to apply universally designed strategies and instructional, environmental, and curriculum adjustments to address students’ strengths and barriers to learning.

Our Professional Learning Hub course for Student Diversity was developed in partnership with Dr Matt Capp (EdD), Director of CAPITALISE Education. Dr Capp is one of the world's leading inclusive learning designers, specialising in Universal Design for Learning.
